Biography:
Yamato joined Team Kakashi as a replacement for Kakashi while he recovered from a battle with Deidara. His presence on the team was urged by the Konoha elder council because he is a highly skilled member of ANBU and can adequately protect Naruto. Tsunade also chose Yamato because of his inherited ability to control to control and suppress the chakra of the Kyuubi. This ability is enhanced by the necklace naruto wears which originally belonged the the First Hokage.
Yamato is only his code name, although his real identity is supposed to be secret, Kakashi has referred to him as Tenzou. Yamato is unique in that he is possibly the only shinobi in Konoha to possess the special abilities of the First Hokage. The reason is because he is the sole survivor of one of Orochimaru's experiments to splice the First's DNA into a group of sixty child test subjects.
Abilities and Jutsus:
 | Mokuton (Bloodline) Yamato is able to use wood-based jutsu due to him inheriting the DNA of the First Hokage. Wood element is actually a kekkei genkai which combines Water and Earth element together. Yamato is able to transform parts of his body into wood, using spontaneous bursts of wood as weapons and create wooden shelters and shields. |  | Wooden Clone (Ninjutsu) Yamato can create a physically wooden clone of himself by literally having it split away from his body. |
 | Four Pillars House (Ninjutsu) Yamato demonstrated this useful ability during his first mission leading Team Kakashi by creating an entire house out of wood in seconds. |  | Four Pillars Prison (Ninjutsu) Similarly to how he created a house, Yamato can just as easily create a wooden cage. He used this technique to threaten Naruto, Sai and Sakura with punishment during their first mission together. |
 | Typhoon Water Vortex (Ninjutsu) Yamato used this technique to cancel out one of Kakuzu's fire jutsus by combining his water element justu Tearing Torrent with Naruto Wind element Rasengan. |  | Wood Locking Wall (Ninjutsu) Yamato can create a half dome made from bent wooden pillars to shield himself from attacks. It can also be extended into a full dome and used offensively to trap an enemy. |
 | Hokage Jutsu: Kakuan Nitten Suishu (Ninjutsu) The technique allows Yamato to use Mokuton power to use his own chakra to control a target made of energy, such as the Kyuubi. The technique was originally used by the First Hokage to tame the tailed beasts. The symbol on his hand means 'sit' |  | Wooden Pellet (Ninjutsu) This special wood pellet, once swallowed, allows Yamato to track that person and find his location immdeiately if that personn focuses his chakra. |
 | Wood Concealment (Ninjutsu) This technique transforms Yamato's body into wood entirely and allows him to meld and be concealed in any wooden material. |  | Great Forest Technique (Ninjutsu) This technique allows Yamato to create a sudden explosion of wooden spikes or tendrils from his arm to imaple a target or form a barrier to protect teammates. |
