Shizune is level-headed, practical, a rational thinker and gets stressed about Tsunade’s gambling. Shizune is most often seen with Tonton, Tsunade’s pet pig.

After Tsunade became the Fifth Hokage, Shizune served as her assistant, often helping out with the more tedious tasks of the job. She has shown concern about Tsunade's decision to let Naruto go on dangerous missions when Akatsuki's goal is to capture him and extract the Nine-Tails.
