Biography:

Brother to Karura, mother of Gaara, and therefore Gaara's uncle (I know he looks like a woman, but is in fact male). He took care of Gaara after his mother's death. He showed a caring appearance to Gaara, but really blamed Gaara for the loss of his sister. The Fourth Kazekage gave him a choice on whether to personally assassinate Gaara or not, but Yashamaru decided to go through with it. It failed when Gaara's sand defences reacted and killed him instead. Witnessing Yashamaru's death and betrayal drove Gaara over the edge to become the psychopath we see in part I.
