Kakuzu is a missing ninja from Takigakure and Hidan's partner in Akatsuki. He himself has claimed to have fought the First Hokage of Konoha, if this is true then Kakuzu could be over one hundred years old. Because of each of their respective abilities that allows them to basically ‘not die’, Kakuzu and Hidan are often referred to as the “Zombie Brothers” by other members of Akatsuki.
Kakuzu has a deep love for money, and uses his membership in Akatsuki as a means to seek out valuable bounties. Because money is the only thing he relies on, Kakuzu dislikes needing to be partnered with someone in Akatsuki. He has killed all of his previous partners in fits of rage, and thus was paired with the immortal Hidan so he wouldn't need to keep finding a replacement.
Kakuzu's body is composed of large amounts of black threads, allowing him to sew things (such as Hidan's dismembered body parts) back together. The threads are also capable of piercing flesh, which Kakuzu uses to remove the still-beating hearts of his opponents for his personal use. By integrating these healthier organs into his body he can escape death and extend his life indefinitely. He can carry five hearts at a time. Hearts that he is not using are stored in animal masks sewn to his back.
The masks can be detached during combat situations to shoot elemental blasts at his opponents, and can quickly be recalled to his body if he needs their heart. Kakuzu's masks are systematically destroyed soon after a battle with Team Asuma and Team Kakashi. After Naruto Uzumaki leaves his final heart on the brink of failure, Kakuzu is easily finished off by Kakashi Hatake.


Abilities and Jutsus:

	Kakuzu's masks (special) Kakuzu has four masks stored on his back, each of which has its own heart and can move independently of Kakuzu after it forms its own body out of Kakuzu's tendrils. Each mask can use its own element: earth, fire, lightning or wind. It is assumed Kakuzu himself can use water element jutsus.		Kakuzu's tendrils (weapon) Kakuzu's body is internally composed of thousands of black tendrils which are woven into his body in a technique called Jiongu. He can move and bend at his will. They allow Kakuzu to stretch his limbs and can be used to attack an enemy directly by binding them and digging into flesh. Kakuzu has also been shown to use his tendrils to sew back Hidan's head.
	Doton: Domu no Jutsu (ninjutsu) Earth Spear is a technique Kakuzu uses to harden his skin, making him practically invulnerable to physical attacks. Only Kakashi's Raikiri was powerful enough to penetrate his earth armor.		Katon: Zukokku (ninjutsu) A fire release technique used by Kakuzu's lion (fire) mask. It launches small fireballs which ignite into a large firestorm to envelope a large area.
	Raiton: Gian (ninjutsu) Used by Kakuzu's lightning mask which fires bolts of lightning at its target.		Fūton: Atsugai (ninjutsu) Wind release used by Kakuzu's eagle (wind) mask. It launches a canonball-sized force of pressurized air at its target which can easily punch through trees and other obstacles
