Background Story:Top member of secret society Akatsuki, who even Orochimaru admits is stronger than himself, Itachi is shrouded with mystery. He killed his whole family with the reason that it was to measure his strength. He left his little brother alive after screwing up his mind. Although it seemed that Itachi spared his brother so he could become stronger and thus a worthy opponent someday, we believe that somewhere deep in his very disturbed heart, he loves Sasuke in his own very weird fashion.
From someone who killed his whole family, Itachi is surprisingly unconfrontational and unbloodthirsty unlike how one would expect him to be. There were many incidents when he could have easily killed an adversary but instead left them heavily wounded and avoided as many fights as he could. Itachi has issues and it would be delightful when we finally find out why.

Biography:
Itachi was once considered the prodigy of the Uchiha clan. He had mastered the Sharigan at age 8 and became a Chuunin at age 10. By age 13, Itachi had joined Konoha’s ANBU and became a team leader. Itachi’s father, Fugaku Uchiha, was proud of him and aimed to get Itachi to the top of the Uchiha clan. But in doing so,
he often neglected his other son, Sasuke. Living under the shadow of Itachi made Sasuke’s own progress seem insignificant, but nonetheless Sasuke looked up to his older brother and trained hard to become more like him. Itachi often helped Sasuke in his training, but wished his father would give more attention to Sasuke.Itachi always had a calm personality, if not somewhat lacking in emotions, but nobody could gave guessed the evils he was truly capable of. Itachi begin to grow
more distant from his father and neglected his duties as an ANBU member. Furthermore, there were growing suspicions that Itachi was behind the apparent suicide of Shisui Uchiha, one of his closest friends. Then one night, Itachi did the unthinkable and single-handedly murdered the entire Uchiha clan in Konoha. The only member he spared was Sasuke, who witnessed him killing their parents in cold blood. When asked why he did it, Itachi's response was that he had to "test his own ability." Itachi had gained the power of Mangekyou Sharigan, an ability he revealed to Sasuke as only achievable if he killed his closest friend. Before leaving Konoha, he tells Sasuke to live a life of hatred so he can become strong enough to kill him and avenge the Uchiha clan.After joining Akatsuki, Itachi was paired with Kisame Hoshigaki. Unlike most Akatsuki two-man teams, they appear to respect each other and work well together. Itachi is a ring-bearing member of Akatsuki, his ring has the character 'Scarlet' and he waers it on the ring finger of his righ hand. When Orochimaru was still part of Akatsuki, he attempted to defeat Itachi in order to gain his Sharingan abilities. However, it was Itachi who easily defeated Orochimaru and severs his left hand. It was because of this incident that Orochimaru betrayed Akatsuki and left the organization.
Itachi is an efficient fighter in battle, and usually relies on his genjutsu abilities instead of mounting physical attacks. He is highly intelligent, shows little emotion, and is ruthless in battle; caring little for the suffering of his opponents. Itachi’s genjutsu abilities are some of the most powerful encountered so far in the Naruto series. Once caught, it is nearly impossible for the enemy to free himself unless aided by allies.
